We’re in a song – Werewolves of London. Warren Zevon, the American singer who wrote it, used to sit right over there in that corner. This was when he was young, well before he was famous. Some of the older guys remember him; he used to come in a lot.
The song made him famous. It’s big in the USA – they play it a lot around Halloween. Every November, people come in to see where he used to sit – we give them a printout of the verse that mentions us by name.
We wrote to him much later, inviting him to come and eat. He wrote back and asked if he could use our menu in the artwork for his next album cover - we said that of course he could. Sadly, he passed away six months later. We’d corresponded a few times.

I saw a werewolf with a Chinese menu in his hands
Walking through the streets of Soho in the rain
He was lookin’ for the place called Lee Ho Fook
Gonna get a big dish of beef chow mein
