Come down between the 8th and 13th of October to sample the best authentic East Asian cuisine in London – at great prices

From October 8th-13th, Chinatown is taking part in the first-ever London Restaurant Festival, a six-day culinary extravaganza which will see more than 500 restaurants across the capital showcase their chefs’ skills alongside a raft of special events. More than 20 of Chinatown’s restaurants are offering mouth-watering and authentic menus as well as a range of special events including food tastings, noodle-making classes and a Chopstick Challenge.

For the most unforgettable experience, visitors should arrive on Sunday 11th October. This year’s London Restaurant Festival coincides with the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival – a spectacle in which Chinatown is lit up by thousands of red lanterns to celebrate the end of the summer harvest and the appearance of the bright mid-autumn harvest moon. The festival sees Chinatown’s people come together to eat traditional foods and enjoy dance and music. This year, the festivities will culminate on the 11th with a special outdoor stage featuring a blend of modern and traditional entertainment – see here for more details.

If you can’t make it for the 11th, don’t worry – rest assured, there will be plenty to see, do and taste for the duration of the festival and beyond. The vibrant community of Chinatown has more than 70 restaurants in total, running the entire gamut of Far Eastern cuisine, including Cantonese, Taiwanese, Szechuan, Straits Chinese, Japanese, Malaysian and even Mongolian. With many chefs flown in from Hong Kong and other areas of the Far East, the authenticity of the dining experience is unquestionable – just as the food is unquestionably delicious.
