Feast for a tenner with a free Sunlik beer throughout September on Monday and Tuesday nights… plus: win a ride in a Roller and a Cantonese feast for ten!
“In 1964, a new band called The Rolling Stones cut their first album at Regent Sounds, a small studio in London’s Denmark Street. At the same time, a photographer named Philip Townsend was tasked with crafting a new, edgy image for the fledgling group.
Townsend took them out and about in London, where he shot them slouching moodily in underpasses, lounging on pub benches in Earls Court and rocking the stage at Oxford Street’s Studio 51. The pictures remain some of the most evocative images of the Swinging Sixties and helped make Townsend’s reputation as one of the most on-the-pulse photographers of his day.
45 years on, Townsend has opened up his archives for a brand-new exhibition in Peter Parker’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Club in Denmark Street – just doors away from where the Stones first recorded. And – to celebrate the show’s opening – the newly-opened Golden Harvest in Chinatown is going back to the Sixties.
Every Monday and Tuesday evening from August 31st until the end of September, customers will be able to choose from a menu of 40 mouth-watering Cantonese dishes priced at the retro-inspired sum of just £2.50 each (minimum 4 dishes per person). That’s a feast for just £10 – and it comes with a complimentary draft pint of Sunlik, the original Hong Kong beer, on the side.”
